Can I store my luggage during my tour in Rome?Updated 2 days ago
We’re unable to store luggage during tours in Rome, as most experiences involve walking or visiting sites where bags and suitcases aren’t permitted.
Whenever possible, leave your luggage at your accommodation — most hotels in Rome offer secure storage, even after checkout.
If that’s not an option, Radical Storage is a convenient solution with trusted locations across the city. You can safely drop your bags near major landmarks and enjoy your tour hands-free and worry-free.
Colosseum Bag Restrictions
Large bags, suitcases, roller bags, or bulky backpacks are not permitted.
Small or medium-sized bags (rucksacks, shoulder bags) are allowed but must pass through security screening and metal detectors.
Backpacks should have no rigid frames or wheels.
There is no official on-site luggage storage at the Colosseum, so anything too large must be stored elsewhere.
You may be asked to open your bag contents at security.
Vatican Museums — Bag Restrictions
Bags, luggage, suitcases, and containers larger than 40 × 35 × 15 cm must be stored in the cloakroom before entering exhibition spaces.
Rucksacks or backpacks may be allowed only if small enough that, when carried on the shoulders, they do not exceed the visitor’s body width by more than ~15 cm.
Items that must be stored in the cloakroom also include: medium/large umbrellas (or non-folding ones), tripods, banners, knives, scissors, metal tools, containers, etc.
The cloakroom service is free, but items must be collected the same day before closing; unclaimed items may be destroyed.
The Vatican disclaim responsibility for loss, theft, or damage of items left in the cloakroom.
