At The Tour Guy, we understand that travel plans can be unpredictable. While we offer one of the most flexible cancellation policies in the industry—allowing cancellations up to 24 hours before the start of most tours— we know that many unforeseen events can happen within that crucial 24-hour window. Common reasons for missed experiences include delayed or canceled flights, traffic issues, or train delays. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds within 24 hours of the tour start time due to the impact this has on our tour guides. 

Our cancellation policy is designed to ensure that our guides, who rely on the short travel season to make a living, have the ability to pick up another tour and continue their work. This is why we strongly recommend that all our customers consider purchasing travel insurance.

Documentation is Key

In the event of a claim, Allianz (and most insurers) will require official documentation to process your request. Here are a few tips to ensure you're prepared: 

  • If your train is delayed or canceled, obtain a letter from the train company confirming the disruption. 

  • If your baggage is lost or stolen, file a police report and keep a copy for your records. 

  • Keep all receipts, confirmations, and communications handy in case they are needed as part of the claims process. 

  • For the best protection, purchase your travel insurance policy within 15 days of booking your trip. This ensures you’re covered for pre-existing conditions and other potential risks.
